The earlier-announced national certification system for HR professionals is set for a trial run later this month.
The certification system will help to ensure that HR professionals can gain more professional human resource management competencies, beyond the basic HR functions.
As quoted in The Straits Times: “To get certified, an HR professional should be able not just to do HR administrative and payroll tasks, but also demonstrate financial acumen, a knowledge of labour law and even a good grasp of HR data analytics.”
The National HR Professional Certification Framework will be run by Workforce Singapore and is targeted to be officially rolled out in the second quarter of next year.
The assessment is not mandatory, although it is hoped that all HR professionals in Singapore will eventually undertake the certification. This is especially in view of HR technology disruptions, which see HR professionals take on more varied roles and jobs, besides the traditional HR tasks.
