A set of Tripartite Guidelines on the Employment of Term Contract Employees have been announced for Singapore employers.
Jointly developed by Ministry of Manpower (MOM), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), the guidelines apply particularly to granting of statutory leave benefits (annual leave, sick leave, childcare leave etc) to term contract employees with long-term relationships and the notice period employers must give to them before contract expiry.
Term contract workers form 11.3% of the resident workforce, and are valued by employers for allowing flexibility in short-term business requirements while still contributing towards business productivity and effectiveness.
